Oh Christmas Tree

"The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree is the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other"

Burton Hills quotes

We finally bought a tree yesterday and decorated it today. I felt so behind, but all of a sudden I feel okay. We are full to the brim of Chinese food (our tradition) and our tree is looking not too shabby.

Lucky us, all four children were able to enjoy dinner and decorate the tree together.

The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family. ~Thomas Jefferson

What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life - to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories. ~George Eliot

There is something about digging through boxes of ornaments and finding memories, keepsakes, things made in school as a child. Ahhh, Christmas time. I'm starting to feel it.

When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things - not the great occasions - give off the greatest glow of happiness. ~Bob Hope

Dr. Seuss
And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store? What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?

Hugh Downs
Something about an old-fashioned Christmas is hard to forget.

We tried to hang our treasured & more breakable ornaments up high on the tree, knowing that a few tiny daycare kids will be tempted to touch.

Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall. ~Larry Wilde, The Merry Book of Christmas

The perfect Christmas tree? All Christmas trees are perfect! ~Charles N. Barnard

No matter how carefully you stored the lights last year, they will be snarled again this Christmas. ~Robert Kirby

Like the photo and then the quote by Larry Wilde. Also like the soft focus on the first photo, and the Hope quote.

I'm so far behind, I think I'm ahead! ;) Working on the family newsletter today, after finally getting everyone organized for a chilly family photo. We took about 5. The one in the letter will have to do, haha!
Very few stocking stuffers, but thankfully hubby is doing the major shopping this year! Hauling a double stroller around the mall leaves no hands for shopping!
Hope your family time is precious and meaningful this year! Love you!

Great pictures and perfect quotes to go along with them. I love that the whole family helps with the tree, somehow it ended up being my job a few years ago and I can barely get my guys to hang an ornament. humbug! I just turn on "Charlie Brown Christmas" and enjoy myself.

Lovely tree! I have perfected the art of the "barricade" to keep my dayhome kidlets from toppling the tree. We have to keep wooden and plastic away from the bottom branches so the goofy dog doesn't eat them. Haven't perfected a barricade for him yet. LOL.

Your tree is looking beautiful & what fun to all be together. We always decorate together - fun to see the homemade ornaments & ones the kids have collected over the years that relates to something they did or liked that year. Love the quotes too! The Christmas choir concert probably helped get you in the mood for Christmas too :)
