We had a loud thunderstorm w/heavy rains on the last night of August and lo and behold when I woke up, the first two Morning Glories of the season made their appearance on September 1st.

What a nice surprise! I've waited all summer. Such a
blue blue. A true blue.

It's September and change is in the air. School is about to start and we all have mixed feelings about that. Notebooks, pencils, jeans and gym shoes have been purchased. I think my kids are set. I think I am set, too.

Like the morning glory buds still curled up, a new school year will slowly unfurl. There will be five brand new kindergarteners attending various schools this Fall. Yes, that means saying goodbye to families and 5 children I am used to seeing on a weekly basis. Change.

And then I receive a bouquet of flowers and a little poem on a note card. And, I melt a little. I wilt. My bottom lip may have stuck out and a tear may have formed in the corner of my eye.

Several of my precious daycare children are ready to go. They've grown into kindergarteners. They will blossom.

They will bloom. Who gave them permission to grow up so quickly?

We will interview new families and new children will attend our childcare.

The former children will always hold a special spot in my heart.

The September winds have blown in some very blue morning glories. At the same time, they have blown the calendar pages too quickly and now I must hand over my sweet daycare kids to school. To a new teacher, new experiences, new peers.

Ashley even received a rose for the role she played in one little girl's life. Sigh...

September winds... change is in the air. We will adjust and it will be good.

Oh my dear, this was beautiful. You obviously made a big impact on that family, and they were lucky to have you give their children a great start!
Very nice analogy. Well done, poetic even. P.S. Tomatoes?
OOOHHH, the flowers and note from your daycare kids, precious. Nice blog, it is such a thoughtful time of year. Barb
